hi everybody..

i'm current using Modbus RTU interface for data acquisition between my GE Mark 5 HMI and my PI server using RS232 serial cable.

As u all know the data transfer is very2 slow using RS232 cable.

I'm thinking of making use of Modbus Ethernet protocal + Ethernet cable which is way faster.

Can someone advise specifically what do i need to modify?

I have seen modbus RTU masters that allow the user to configure an ethernet IP address and port (instead of the more typical serial port) in order to support communication between the host computer and serial modbus devices plugged into a terminal server. Greg Goodman Chiron Consulting
