Why does AC termination capacitor lower the maximum bitrate?

AC termination lowers the DC current of the termination resistor. Several documents say the RC constant limits the maximum bitrate. However, suppose the capacitor is infinitely large so that current can always flow through the termination. Is this not similar to the standard termination without the capacitor?

Is it rather some LC constant that matter?
